Volunteer of the Month - September 2011
Dot MoyleWhen Cabarrus CARES
organized in 2003, Dot Moyle was sitting there at the
table sharing her
ideas
to determine the route we should take to help
animals and the people who love
them.
Dot dedicated much of her life to animal rescue. She worked with the original Animal Protection Society that Betsy Carpenter formed in the 80’s and went on to serve many hours with the Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus.
In 2003 she became a regular at our Pet Food Pantry in Kannapolis, where we spent Saturdays distributing animal supplies to displaced textile workers. Dot was always ready to bring us a yummy pot of soup for lunch, chili for our hot dog sales, or a delicious dessert.
Upon the opening of Kitty City in 2005, Dot became part of the Wednesdays Crew, scooping litter boxes and washing dishes. She just loved cats. When we moved into our new expanded facility in 2009, Dot beamed and said it was an answer to her prayers.
Dot Moyle passed away August 21. We’re pretty sure her personal cloud in the heavens is crowded with friends both human and furry that she befriended in her days on earth and her halo probably has some chewing marks already.
We are especially proud to honor Dot as our first Volunteer of the Month.

Dot, on her 80th birthday, honored by Cabarrus CARES/Kitty City by
having a
spay/neuter clinic named for her.
